Our Specialities

  • Anxiety and depression are common challenges, but many treatments don't retrain your brain, keeping you dependent on therapy to manage symptoms. At Orange County Therapy, we do more than help you cope; we teach your brain to respond differently to stressors, empowering you to handle daily life effectively.

  • Recovery from substance and alcohol abuse involves more than just abstaining—it requires addressing the underlying reasons that led to addiction. At Orange County Therapy we recognize that substance use often stems from maladaptive coping mechanisms for psychological stress. We focus not just on helping you stop using but on eliminating the need to use by tackling these underlying issues and changing behaviors. This comprehensive approach ensures a more sustainable recovery.

  • Mood disorders affect how you feel daily, influencing your overall well-being. At Orange County Therapy, we go beyond managing symptoms; we explore the root causes of your mood fluctuations. Whether dealing with depression, bipolar disorder, or other mood challenges, we provide targeted treatments that not only improve your mood but also enhance your life quality.

  • Trauma varies widely in its impact, from mild to severe interference in daily life, and can result from single or repeated events. At Orange County Therapy, we specialize in treating diverse trauma types—including attachment, sexual, and emotional abuse—through tailored approaches like EMDR. Our goal is to help you safely confront and understand your trauma, preventing it from affecting your present and future. Learn more about our methods and how we can support your recovery below.

By understanding and addressing your emotional responses to these changes, we empower you to adapt and thrive in your evolving circumstances.

  • Low self-esteem can quietly undermine your life, affecting your relationships, career, and happiness. At Orange County Therapy, we address self-esteem issues by helping you recognize your inherent worth, develop positive self-perceptions, and build confidence. Our supportive approach empowers you to see yourself and your capabilities in a new light, enabling you to live more fully and confidently.

Therapeutic Approaches

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy technique that helps individuals process and recover from traumatic memories and disturbances by using guided eye movements to lessen the emotional impact of these memories.

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) Therapy is a transformative approach that identifies and works with various sub-personalities or "parts" within each person, helping to heal emotional wounds and restore mental balance by promoting internal harmony and self-leadership.

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a widely used therapy technique that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors, aiming to improve emotional regulation and develop personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.

  • DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a comprehensive cognitive-behavioral treatment that emphasizes balancing acceptance and change. It helps individuals learn new skills to manage painful emotions and decrease conflict in relationships, particularly effective for those with borderline personality disorder.

  • Psychodynamic therapy is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes understanding the unconscious processes that influence a person's current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It stems from the theories of psychoanalysis, primarily developed by Sigmund Freud. The psychodynamic approach focuses on unresolved conflicts and influences from the past, particularly from early childhood experiences. Therapy involves exploring these unconscious patterns and the client's life narrative to gain insight into their current psychological state. This understanding is used to resolve internal conflicts, improve self-awareness, and foster personal growth and healthier relationships.

 FAQs

  • A free consultation includes 5-15 minutes to get a sense of your potential therapist and to see if it would be a good fit. The therapist can address any questions, comments or concerns.

  • Yes! You can book without a consultation by calling, texting, emailing, or using our booking button feature above

  • All appointments range from 45-55 minutes long. You should complete all intake forms 72 hours prior to your appointment to secure your intake appointment time. Other than intake forms, you do not need to prepare in advance for your appointment. However, some clients do journal or note in advance what they want to address for their appointments.

  • We are contacted with Cigna, Evernorth, Aetna, and United/Optum. You can check with the therapist by asking them if they are in-network with your insurance and obtain your copay or deductible information.

  • In-person therapy occurs in a physical office, allowing for direct connection and nuanced communication but may require travel and be limited by location. Virtual therapy offers the convenience of access from anywhere, relying on internet technology, but may miss some non-verbal cues and require attention to privacy concerns. Both modalities have unique strengths and challenges, with the choice often depending on individual needs, therapeutic goals, and personal preferences.

  • This is an introspective question. Reasons why we come to therapy aren’t always clear. You may have family or friends suggesting this for you then find yourself wondering why. A good place to start is asking yourself if you want to understand yourself a little more. There might not be a major issue that is causing you problems but you feel incomplete, confused about the future, or feelin apathetic. Therapy can be a great place to explore the vague or bold issues that are going on for you.

  • This is a common question and difficult to know or answer. Feeling comfortable and trusting your therapist is really important but sometimes that doesn’t happen right away due to the reason why you sought therapy out in the first place. This is something to think about with your therapist and ask them. It might not be comfortable, but necessary to speak to that discomfort that comes up. If addressing these issues with your therapist did not go well or that you didn’t get clarity from this then it might not be a good fit.

  • Of course! You are not required to stay in therapy and it’s voluntary choice. There are no repercussions if you leave at any time. It would be helpful to the therapist and yourself if you told them you were discontinuing.

  • This varies depending on the type of therapy you are engaging in and your own goals. Just remember that life goals are different than therapy goals. Life goals would be to resolve trauma to be able to get into a healthy relationship. We can say that a therapy goal is to get int a healthy relationship but your therapist and you can work on removing the barriers to getting to that place.
