Reading List

Below are some reading suggestions for more education and self-growth. Each section is divided by topic.

Trauma

I have truly loved reading this book. Bessel does not discriminate between various trauma therapies. He shares about various modalities to help people that struggle with trauma or have PTSD/C-PTSD.

This is a great workbook to use along side of trauma therapy. You can use it on your own or while you are getting treatment for your trauma. I would suggest that you get individual therapy during this process in case you want to reflect and review with a professional.

This is a great beginners guide to resources for EMDR and helping you bring yourself back to equilibrium.

This reviews some of the content from Body Keeps the Score and Getting Past your Past with regards to the brain and the body connection. This books provides hope and accounts of how EMDR has improved various issues (ex: depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions and more).

Addiction

Tells various stories on addiction and mental health. I love the way Gabor approaches addiction and the definition. Connection vs Disconnection.

Quick read on addiction and the brain science behind it (less thank 100 pages).

People that struggle with addiction typically have other problematic behaviors that pop-up after getting clean. This book is really helpful, especially do those that are '“people pleasers.”

Hilarious and real way to move through the 12-steps of AA. I like his approach to not just include alcohol or substances but any problematic behavior (ex: gambling, compulsive eating).
